Buyers supported to the last
Mitsubishi's local production will halt, but sales and service will continue for owners of Magna and 380Mitsubishi will continue to build its 380 large car at Tonsley Park up to the end of March. The balance of production will be the Platinum edition special value pack model.
What sort of incentives do you place before the consumer as an incentive to buy what will come to be seen by almost everyone as an orphan? That's the question that led Mitsu to offer an extension to the already generous five-year/130,000km warranty with ten-year/160,000km powertrain coverage.
Buyers of the run-out 380 might rest easier in the knowledge that their car is covered for an extra 12 months over the standard period.
"Our 380 customers will receive special attention. All past and future private buyers of 380 will receive a 12-month extension to their already industry-leading warranty from the current '5/10' warranty to a '6/10' warranty", said Rob McEniry, MMAL President and CEO.
"A special value pack car will be the only car produced during the balance of this production schedule," he said.
McEniry said the runout would be orderly.
"We've been very diligent in the management of our production inventory against sales. Our dealer stocks are quite low, our plant stock is quite low. In fact, with the models we've got at the moment, in some areas we're a bit short.
"We see that the run-out will be fairly smooth," he said.
