BYD will install 100 flash charging stations across Europe by the end of 2026 before expanding the network to 3000 chargers by the end of 2027. The rollout will support new BYD electric vehicles capable of using the company's 1500kW charging system, including the Atto 8 due in Europe during 2027.

BYD confirmed its European charging plans at the Paris Auto Show, outlining a rapid expansion of its flash charging infrastructure over the next 18 months.
The company says its flash chargers can deliver up to 1500kW through a single charging gun.
Vehicles equipped with BYD's second-generation Blade battery are claimed to charge from 10 to 70 per cent in five minutes, while a 10 to 97 per cent charge takes nine minutes.
BYD installed its first European flash charger in Germany in June and says additional units are already operating in countries including the United Kingdom.

The Chinese brand currently operates more than 12,000 flash chargers in China and plans to expand its charging network internationally.
The upcoming Atto 8 will become the first BYD-badged model in Europe capable of using the system.
The seven-seat electric SUV is fitted with a 115kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, dual electric motors producing 570kW, and a claimed WLTP driving range of 653 kilometres.
The Atto 8 is due to launch in Europe during the first quarter of 2027, with additional flash-charging-capable BYD models expected to follow.
BYD says Europe will account for around half of its planned overseas flash charging network by the end of 2027, with 3000 of the 6000 chargers it intends to install outside China located in the region.
BYD has yet to announce Australian plans for the Atto 8, though an eventual local launch would not be unexpected given the brand's expanding range and the model's availability in other right-hand-drive markets.
