BYD cuts prices for 2025 model year

Certain Dolphin, Seal, Atto3 and Sealion 6 variants have had thousands slashed permanently

BYD Australia has sharpened its pencil and taken thousands of dollars off the asking prices of six of its 10 available vehicles as part of a 2025 portfolio refresh.

Starting at the bottom of the range, the BYD Dolphin range now starts from $29,990 plus on-road costs for the inbound Essential grade and tops out $36,990 for the familiar Premium variant – a price reduction of $5600 – with the Dynamic having been axed for the new model year.

It’s a similar story with the BYD Atto3 medium SUV which now opens from $39,990 plus on-roads for the stripped-out Essential instead of the $44,990 asked for the axed Dynamic.

The flagship Premium meantime has had $2506 trimmed off its previous asking price to now retail from $44,990 with no major specification change.

BYD Australia’s best-selling model meantime, the Seal sedan, is now up to $3758 cheaper despite all variants now coming with an electronic sunshade for the panoramic roof and the top-spec Performance nabbing the DiSus-C intelligent body control system.

Translated, the Dynamic is now available from $46,990 (-$2898), the Premium from $52,990 (-$2808) and the Performance from $61,990 (-$3758).

Breathing down the Seal’s neck and almost certainly about to take the crown as the brand’s most popular model, the BYD Sealion 6 SUV retains both its existing variants but scores a new entry price: $45,990 plus on-roads instead of the previous $48,990.

“By offering exceptional value without compromising on quality or innovation, we’re helping more drivers make the switch to sustainable transportation, driving a cleaner and greener future for Australia,” EVDirect CEO David Smitherman said.

“Starting from as low as $29,990, the new pricing reflects BYD’s commitment to delivering premium features, advanced technology, and superior performance at accessible price points.”

No changes have been made to the pricing or specification of the solitary BYD Shark 6 Premium, the first customer cars of which have been handed over to their new owners, however ongoing industrial action is preventing more examples from landing on local soil.
