BYD puts on "world’s biggest EV test drive day" in Australia
Get in the driver’s seat of an EV at the “world’s biggest EV test drive day” this SaturdayLeaping into the world of electric vehicles remains a frightening proposition to many Aussies, but for those ready to dip a toe in, BYD is offering up its fleet of cars to test drive.
But you’ll have to be available (and in a major city) this Saturday 17th August to get involved.
BYD is one of the fastest-growing car-makers in the country, touting ambitious plans to dethrone Toyota to become the number-one new car brand in Oz, thanks to its range of aquatically-named new energy vehicles.
That includes four electrified vehicles such as the Atto 3 SUV, Dolphin hatch, and Seal sedan EVs, as well as the plug-in hybrid Sealion 6 SUV, all of which will be available at what BYD is calling the “world’s biggest EV test drive day”.
Kicking off at 9:00am this Saturday (17 August 2024), the Chinese manufacturer says it expects thousands of Aussies to flock to various BYD Experience Centres and drive sites across the nation, including Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Perth. See below for more locations.
Expect a VIP entrance complete with a black carpet when you arrive, along with coffee carts, food trucks, live music, BYD merchandise, and a photobooth experience; all of which should keep you busy (BYD says to expect wait times).
It also says those wanting to take a test drive should register their interest to avoid disappointment.
