BYD Sealion 7 details leaked
Local specifications for Chinese brand’s mid-size electric SUV firm after social media leakThe 2025 BYD Sealion 7 will go on sale this month and while a sub-$60k starting price has already been confirmed, finer details on the inbound Tesla Model Y fighter have surfaced for the first time.
According to a recent post on the BYD Sealion 7 Australia Facebook page, one member shared an email they claim to have received from BYD detailing several yet-to-be-announced specifications of the two-variant Sealion 7 range.
The mid-size SUV slots in above the Atto 3 and will come in two guises, an entry-level rear-wheel drive Sealion 7 Premium and a flagship dual-motor all-wheel drive Sealion 7 Performance, producing 390kW/690Nm.
Entry-level Premium grades will output 230kW/380Nm according to the document.
The same 82.56kWh lithium-iron phosphate battery is thought to be the only battery offering, with a listed driving range of 482km and 456km for the Premium and Performance, respectively.
As suggested by its name, the top-spec Performance is the more athletic of the pair, dispatching a zero to 100km/h sprint in 4.5 seconds, while the single-motor Premium covers the same distance in 6.7sec.
Vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality will also be offered, while a maximum DC charging rate of 150kW is standard and maximum AC charging is rated at 11kW.
BYD’s answer to the Model Y measures in at 4830mm long, 1925mm wide, and stands at 1620mm in height, and tips the scales at a chunky 2340kg in Performance form (or 2225kg in Premium). The wheelbase is 2930mm.
Boot capacity is rated at 500 litres at the rear end, while a frunk (front trunk) is said to hold 58 litres.
Underneath, the Sealion 7 features double wishbone suspension and multi-link rear suspension with frequency selective dampers, while an array of safety and driver aids come standard.
That includes autonomous emergency braking (AEB), adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, rear cross traffic alert, blind spot monitoring, driver attention monitoring, safe exit warning, surround-view camera, front and rear parking sensors, and more.
