The Finer Details

The headline attraction will be the world debut of the Denza Z Coupe and Denza Z Racing, a pair of performance EVs developed to take on iconic sports cars like the Porsche 911.

Powered by three electric motors, the Z Coupe has a claimed top speed of nearly 350km/h and offers seating for four, along with a generous boot, while the Racing version ups the ante, adding a carbon fibre aero package – among other goodies.

The display will also include the European debut of vehicles already sold in Australia, including the Denza BAO 5 SUV – sold here as the Denza B5 – and the BYD Shark 6 dual-cab ute.

Meantime, Goodwood will mark the UK launch of the Denza Z9GT, a performance sedan earmarked for local launch by early 2027, and the D9 DM-i people-mover.

The latter is a plug-in hybrid described as a “first-class lounge on wheels” and features reclining second-row seats with massage functionality, plus heating and ventilation across all seven seats.

Another local debut for the UK market will include the Dolphin G DM-I, revealed globally in Berlin earlier this month as the plug-in hybrid version of BYD’s electric Dolphin hatch.

BYD’s luxury offshoot Yangwang will also showcase a trio of models at Goodwood, including the wicked U9 Xtreme hypercar, which claims a top speed of a mind-boggling 496.22km/h.

Joining it will be the U7 luxury sedan, available in both electric and plug-in hybrid forms, along with the U8L luxury SUV, the latter of which has long been touted for a local launch but is yet to be locked in.

The Road Ahead

According to BYD executive vice president Stella Li, the display highlights the company’s ambitions.

“This is more than a product showcase. It is a statement of intent.

“With eight premieres across three distinct brands, BYD Group is demonstrating how innovation, performance, premium design and sustainability can coexist within one of the most comprehensive automotive portfolios in the world.”

Amongst the vehicle displays, the stand will also feature a technology zone, off-road demonstration area, robots, driving simulators, merchandise and a rooftop hospitality space.
