Cabin upgrades for 2025 Toyota LandCruiser 300 Series

First major upgrade of Toyota LandCruiser 300 Series includes big interior tweaks

Pictures of the upgraded 2025 Toyota LandCruiser 300 Series have surfaced ahead of the large SUV’s Australia debut in the second quarter of this year, following images posted recently by Toyota Gazoo Racing in Japan.

Giving us our first glimpse of the first major overhaul of the Toyota LandCruiser 300 Series since its 2021 launch, the headline news is what’s happened within, with the large SUV getting an all-new digital instrument cluster and infotainment system.

Following the update, Toyota will upsize the current car’s small 7.0-inch instrument cluster with a larger 12.3-inch digital instrument display, with the bigger display set to come standard on the GR Sport, VX, Sahara and Sahara ZX.

Other changes include a new 12.3-inch infotainment system that runs Toyota’s latest-generation software.

Now capable of over-the-air updates, the new system works with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and includes satellite navigation.

As part of the mid-life tweaks the Japanese car-maker has confirmed that Toyota Connected Services will move to a shorter 12-month complimentary period, down from the three years free previously offered with the SUV.

Once connected, owners are able to remotely operate the LandCruiser’s climate control using the myToyota phone app, among other features.

Other changes include rolling out the climate control panel – that features physical buttons – on all variants of the LandCruiser 300 range.

Despite the introduction of the climate control panel Toyota has deleted the row of climate control shortcut buttons, leaving just the volume and power buttons.

Speaking of the sound system, the CD/DVD player that was standard on the VX, Sahara, Sahara VX and GR Sport has finally been deleted and replaced by an HDMI port that allows users to play multimedia content from other devices when the Toyota is stationary.

At the lower end of the LandCruiser range, both the GX and GXL get a new smaller 8.0-inch infotainment touch-screen in place of the current car’s 9.0-inch display.

The two base grades also get a 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster that replaces the small 4.2-inch screen that was sandwiched between the two analogue dials available in today’s GX and GXL.

As previously revealed late last year, as well as the enhanced in-car tech, safety has also improved as part of the 2025 model-year upgrades.

Lane-centring assist, emergency steering assist, and emergency driving stop (which can automatically bring the LandCruiser to a halt if it thinks the driver is having a medical emergency) are now standard across the range.

On GXL models and above Toyota has also kicked in exit warning alert that detects and warns of oncoming cars or cyclists when leaving the vehicle. The autonomous emergency braking (AEB) now works in reverse too.

Across the board the LandCruiser comes with a power-adjust steering wheel, LED cabin lighting and extra guidelines for the rear-view camera that were missing on the entry-level GX.

The mid-spec VX, meanwhile, sports new eight-way power-adjust passenger seats and an electric tailgate.

Post update the GXL gets fake suede-like fabric seats, an eight-way power-adjust front seat, four-zone climate control, a chiller in the centre console and split-folding second-row seats with a centre armrest.

More minor changes include the addition of extra lighting in the rear luggage area of the GR Sport.

Under the bonnet the LandCruiser’s twin-turbo 3.3-litre V6 diesel carries over unchanged, producing 227kW and 700Nm. The engine channels all its might to the road through all four wheels via a 10-speed automatic transmission

Full specifications and pricing of the 2025 Toyota LandCruiser 300 Series will be released shortly, ahead of its local launch that is tipped to take place between April and June this year.

Price rises are expected, with a premium likely to be charged on a range that is currently priced from $96,991 plus on-roads costs for the entry GX, stretching to $145,791 plus on-road costs for the range-topping Sahara ZX.
