The 2026 Cadillac OPTIQ compact SUV has been unveiled this week and will be on sale “shortly” from $80,000 (plus on-road costs) as the US car-maker’s smallest and most affordable model in its electric-only line-up.

Revealed ahead of the brand’s inaugural Formula 1 Grand Prix race in Melbourne, the all-new OPTIQ arrives as the smallest model in Cadillac's EV line-up.
Set to slot below the LYRIQ – the brand’s first and only model currently on sale Down Under from $122,000 – the OPTIQ will start from $80,000 (plus ORCs) and rival the likes of the BMW iX3, Volvo EX30 and inbound Polestar 4, among others.
Available with a dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD) powertrain good for an estimated 224kW/480Nm, the fitment of a 75kWh lithium-ion battery is said to bring around 425km of range from a full battery.

The OPTIQ will come fully loaded with equipment, including 21-inch alloy wheels, Brembo brakes up front, a premium 19-speaker AKG Studio sound system, panoramic glass roof, wireless phone charging pad, a 33-inch display with in-built Google capability and over-the-air updates (plus eight years of complimentary connected services) and powered seats with heating, ventilation and massage function feature up front.
A suite of safety gear includes seven airbags, autonomous emergency braking (AEB), lane assist with departure warning, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, traffic sign recognition, and more.
A host of drive modes including Tour, Snow/Ice, Sport and MyMode will also be offered, as well as regenerative braking with one-pedal driving mode.

Beyond the US brand promising Australian sales of the OPTIQ will kick off “shortly”, there’s no exact ETA for first customer deliveries.
For those interested – and in or willing to travel to Sydney – GM says customers can explore the OPTIQ, LYRIQ and VISTIQ at its Cadillac Experience Centre in Sydney. Alternatively, the OPTIQ will be available to view at this week’s GP in Melbourne.
