Four handy car space-saving hacks
New cars might come with stacks of fancy features, but we’re always going to wind up with more cups than cupholders, and lots of random *things* are bound to get chucked in the seat-back pockets or on the floor if there’s nowhere else for them.Lucky for us, the internet is full of ingenious solutions to all our annoying problems. Check out a few storage hacks that will sort out your stuff so you’ve got everything within easy reach on the road.
1. Learn to compartmentalise
Keep the kids in the back quiet and occupied by strapping a remote control organiser around your head-rest and filling it with essentials and activities.
2. Go barefoot
Three people in the car but only two cupholders? Keep the third one safe by lacing it in a sneaker. This one can only go wrong if you’re all wearing thongs.
3. Save the small stuff
Keep small odds and ends – like hair elastics, the garage remote, mints or coins for the toll booth – in easy reach by lining a cup-holder with a flexible silicon cupcake liner. If you need to put a cup in there, the liner can be removed with everything still safe inside.
4. Go vertical
Repurpose the shoe organisers from your wardrobe on your next camping trip or holiday. Vertical compartments will keep everything in easy view without taking up any valuable boot space. What a win!
