Porsche has reinstated V8 firepower to its new Porsche Cayenne GTS, which will be joined by the all-new Porsche Cayenne GTS Coupe when both models arrive in Australian showrooms in the fourth quarter of 2020.
The 2020 Porsche Cayenne GTS will be priced from $192,900 plus on-road costs – $35,000 more than its turbo V6 predecessor – while first Porsche Cayenne GTS Coupe will command a circa-$5000 premium at $198,200 plus ORCs.
As we forecast earlier this week, the new Cayenne GTS will upsize to a 4.0-litre twin-turbo petrol V8, offering 338kW and 620Nm, tied to a reworked eight-speed automatic transmission. The model it replaces used a twin-turbo 3.6-litre V6 offering 14kW and 20Nm less.
That kind of price and firepower positions the GTS duo neatly between the current Cayenne S and Cayenne Turbo. Ditto with the Cayenne Coupe.
Both GTS models can cover the 0-100km/h dash in a claimed 4.5 seconds with the Sport Chrono package (which is optional for the Cayenne GTS but standard on the GTS Coupe) and have a top speed of 270 km/h.
And both GTS models feature a sport exhaust, 20mm lower ride height, dynamic damper control, three-chamber air suspension with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus, 21-inch RS Spyder Design wheels and 390mm front/358mm rear disc brakes.
On the options list are more performance enhancements including rear-wheel steering and an active roll stabilisation system similar to that found on the Audi SQ7.
Visually, the Porsche Cayenne GTS SUV and Coupe are differentiated from other models via black accenting, black alloys, tinted LED headlights and tail-lights, and black treatments across the front air intakes, side window trims, tailpipes and badging.
Inside, Alcantara adorns the roof lining, seat centre panels, centre console armrests and doors, broken up by dark-brushed aluminium.
There are also eight-way adjustable sports seats specific to the GTS, along with logos aplenty – with the GTS motif featuring on the front doors, door entry sills, rev counter and head restraints.
For Australia, the new GTS duo will feature as standard a 90-litre fuel tank, 20-inch collapsible spare wheel, adaptive air suspension, metallic paint, privacy glass, automatically dimming mirrors, driver memory package, side airbags in the rear compartment, front seat heating, comfort access, Lane Change Assist, Surround View, Head-Up Display, digital radio and BOSE Surround Sound System.
Both GTS models are available to order now ahead of their arrival around October.
