Cerato sprouts five-door hatch

Kia has added a five-door hatch to its Cerato range...

Kia has added a new five-door hatch to its Cerato offering. Previously only offered in a sedan variant, the hatch shares the same drivetrain and equipment level as the sedan.

With the arrival of the hatch, Kia Automotive Australia is looking to boost interest in the Korean-built mid-sizer by 20 per cent

The Cerato Hatch boasts a 105kW/186Nm 2.0-litre petrol four matched to five-speed manual or four-speed automatic.

Unveiled at the Sydney Motor Show, the Kia Cerato Hatchback has a 'Driveaway' recommended retail price of $18,990 for the manual version and $20,990 for the automatic.

Standard equipment includes CD player, remote central locking, front and rear electric windows, twin airbags, power steering, aircon and cruise control.

"The arrival of the Cerato five door is the final element in providing Kia with a high competitive and advanced choice of models in the small and light car sectors, with a complete replacement of all our models in a little over a year," siad Kia Automotive Australia's General Manager, Dinesh Chinnappa.

"We open our new range with the lauded all-new Rio, with its choice of hatch or sedan, and follow this with the two versions of the Cerato. These combine to provide Kia with a new level of strength in these two critical Australian market sectors," he said.
