Lamborghini has revealed a new ‘track connectivity’ concept dubbed Telemetry X at CES 2024, previewing a new connected services suite designed to help drivers get the most out of themselves and their car on track.
Telemetry X uses three primary systems to maximise customers’ track experience: Real Time Remote Garage, Biometric Data System and Digital Co-Pilot.
Each system does largely what its name suggests, with Real Time Remote Garage leveraging 5G connectivity to record and even stream real-time video of track sessions, allowing drivers to pore over their sessions and review their performance.
Telemetry and session recording is nothing new; the ‘X factor’ here is the ability to securely livestream it and have it viewed in real-time remotely by a coach who can then provide immediate feedback during the session.
“Thus, the Remote Garage philosophy is to provide an even more complete and engaging track experience while enhancing the driver’s performance, ensuring fun driving based on a user-friendly approach,” the company said.
Meantime, the Biometric Data System captures certain elements of the driver’s biometric data including heart rate and stress level to allow more in-depth performance monitoring and provide useful references on how they can refine their training, whether it be physical fitness or mindset.
Both systems work in synergy with the Digital Co-Pilot, which compares both biometric and vehicle data to give feedback to the driver in real time if there’s no coach available or present, analysing things like lap times and key telemetry parameters to provide pointers on line choices, braking points and how the car is performing.
The Telemetry X concept was developed on the new Lamborghini Revuelto – the fastest and most technologically advanced Lamborghini supercar to date – and will soon come as standard equipment on certain Lambo models, including the Revuelto and the upcoming Huracan replacement.
“Innovation is at the core of our DNA, as we have recently demonstrated with the Revuelto, a super-sports car that is groundbreaking in every way, and the Lanzador fully-electric concept car,” said Automobili Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann.
“In the near future, our supercars will increasingly offer not just thrills but truly immersive driving experiences. Telemetry X is a perfect preview of the connected services our customers will be able to experience in the coming years.”
