CES 2025: Continental shows off its window projection tech

New tech said to help car better communicate with owner and road users

Continental has revealed its new next-generation window projection technology at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.

Created to project and display information on the rear side windows when parked, the new tech is said to allow a car to communicate directly with its environment, and one day help owners check their charge levels or recharging status, weather and traffic data or simply display the logo of their favourite team.

The system works by using a small but powerful projector installed neatly within the roof lining and a darkened side window.

Combined with the Continental’s new AI-powered eTravel software, the system can also learn from the owner and can make an educated guess as to the nature of a journey or possible destination – i.e. a stadium.

The same tech could one day be used to help ride-hail app users safely find their car at night.

“With our window projection solution, we can project content in impressive quality onto the vehicle’s side windows,” Continental user experience boss Pavel Prouza said.

“This can be personalised to the driver’s lifestyle, strengthening their bond with the brand.”
