A two-year restoration project initiated by Peter Brock in June 2006 has raised $19,750 for charity at Shannons Melbourne Winter Auction.
Brock launched the project a matter of months prior to his untimely death in a motor racing accident.
The Whitelion Young Lions team restored the 1963 EH Special Station Wagon at Penfold City Holden's Burnley (Victoria) premises, aided and mentored by volunteers coordinated at the Holden dealership.
Shannons originally estimated the grey and white Holden, featuring a period sun-shade and red vinyl trim, to be worth in the range of $8000 to $12,000.
Net proceeds from the sale will go back to the Whitelion charity to further the group's work in the community, providing young people leaving custody and out-of-home care with the skills and confidence to make their way in the world.
