Cheaper Nissan Qashqai e-POWER arrives

Electrified options grow for Japanese brand’s MY25 small SUV range as Qashqai e-POWER Ti returns from $47k

Nissan Australia has reintroduced a more affordable Qashqai Ti e-POWER variant, slashing entry into a petrol-electric Qashqai by more than $5000 and upping the choice of hybrid options in its small SUV range to three.

Since the facelifted Qashqai went on sale earlier this year, the fuel-saving e-POWER range extender hybrid has only been available on high-spec Ti-L or N-Design variants.

Now, the addition of the mid-spec Qashqai Ti means customers can get into an e-POWER version of the compact SUV from $47,165 plus on-road costs, a $4200 premium over the petrol Ti on which it’s based.

Meanwhile, entry to the MY25 Qashqai line-up remains untouched, starting from $34,665 (plus ORCs) for the entry-level petrol Qashqai ST, while the flagship Qashqai N-Design remains atop the tree from $54,365.

The freshly added Qashqai Ti e-POWER – which is based on the mid-tier petrol Ti – rides on 19-inch alloy wheels and comes equipped with automatic LED headlights with adaptive high beams, tinted windows, roof rails and satin-chrome foil stamped grille.

Inside, leather-appointed seats and steering wheel come standard, with heating up front and memory for the driver, as well as a pair of 12.3-inch digital displays and an optional two-tone (black roof) paint job.

There’s a full suite of safety gear including autonomous emergency braking (AEB) with pedestrian, cyclist and junction assist, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning and keep assist, blind spot monitoring, cross traffic alert with rear braking, traffic sign recognition with speed adaption and driver monitoring.

As with the entire Qashqai e-POWER range, the Ti comes powered by a 140kW/330Nm 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol which feeds an e-motor connected to (and responsible for driving) the front wheels via an inverter.

It’s also used to recharge the 1.8kWh battery pack on board.
