China’s answer to Ford Ranger WildTrak revealed
Local distributor breaks cover with full accessories package for Foton TunlandChinese ute maker Foton has revealed its answer to the Ford Ranger Wildtrak by unveiling a fully accessorised version of its Tunland dual cab ute.
Foton’s Australian distributor, Ateco Automotive, will reveal the fully optioned version of its Tunland at the National 4x4 Outdoors Show and Fishing and Boating Expo in Melbourne this weekend.
The accessory package has no formal name but is based on the regular 4x4 Tunland dual cab, which retails for $30,990 drive-away. It’s understood the fully optioned model will be available from less than $40,000 fitted drive-away.
The ute photographed is a Foton Tunland 4x4 dual cab that’s been raised with front and rear RidePro suspension kits, mounted on Dynamic Python alloy wheels and fitted with Toyo AT2 tyres. It breathes through a snorkel and also wears a full canopy and a Warn Winch that bolsters a tow kit that enables a 2.5-tonne towing capacity.
The Foton hardly carries the same street cred as the Wildtrak – and has a much more inviting price tag – but it is fitted 2.8-litre turbo diesel engine mated to a five-speed manual transmission. Rear parking sensors, dual front airbags and anti-lock brakes pair with an eight-way adjustable driver’s seat and other mod-cons.
The fully-optioned Tunland kit carries Foton’s three-year/100,000km warranty and can be fitted at any one of Foton’s 39 national dealers.
