Chrysler commands seven-seat Jeep
Chrysler's big Commander will be revealed to the Australian public at the Adelaide Motor Show.The seven-seat off-roader, due to arrive late May, is five centimetres longer than the latest Jeep Grand Cherokee and shares the same four-wheel drive system, suspension and powertrains.
Three powertrains will be available in the new Commander: one diesel and two petrol engines. The 5.7-litre HEMI V8 petrol is available in addition to the 4.7-litre V8 petrol. The diesel engine is an all-new 3.0-litre V6 common-rail turbo diesel.
Jeep has also recently confirmed another new model for its line-up in 2006, the 313kW Grand Cherokee SRT-8. The two new additions will grow the Jeep stable to five models in Australia, joining the Wrangler, the mid-sized Cherokee and flagship Grand Cherokee.
The Adelaide Motor Show will be held at the Royal Adelaide Showgrounds from Wednesday April 5 to Sunday April 9.
Prices for all models will be announced at launch.
