Citroen C4 Cactus replacement due this month

The Citroen e-C4 -- a small pure-electric SUV that will replace the outgoing Citroen C4 Cactus -- will be revealed on June 30, the French car-maker has confirmed.

Citroen announced the unveiling of the e-C4, which will be more of an overt SUV than jacked-up Cactus hatchback, on its social media channels with the posting of a short video that previews only its new badging.

As well as the e-C4, it's rumoured that Citroen will also pull the drapes of a more conventional C4 hatch at a later date, available with both petrol and diesel power.

Based on the PSA's CMP architecture, instead of the Peugeot 308's EMP2 platform, it's thought the e-C4 could be smaller than the next-gen 308 but will have a longer wheelbase than the Peugeot 208, 2008, DS3 and Opel Corsa, all of which are based on the same platform.

That means it should lead the class for space and rear legroom.

Inside, the Citroen e-C4 that will be launched first is expected to debut the car-maker's next-generation cabin design that should not only be bright and vibrant but maximise comfort.

The small electric EV will also introduce new driver assist functions that should include PSA's latest Level 2 autonomous cruise control system.
