Citroen DS3 Christmas gift
French car maker Citroen is getting festive with special driveaway deals and bonus features on its premium compact carCitroen's premium light car, the DS3, has passed the global milestone of 200,000 sales and the importer is keen to shift a few more before year's end, offering special drive-away deals on two models, the DS3 DStyle and DS3 DSport, and added features at no extra cost.
Priced at $24,990 drive-away, the Citroen DS3 DStyle comes as standard with plenty of premium kit, such as a leather steering wheel, sports seats, LED driving lights, dark tinted rear windows, contrasting body and roof colours, 17-inch diamond-tipped alloy wheels, cruise control with speed limiter, six airbags, electric windows, remote central locking, and Bluetooth with USB/AUX ports.
The DS3 DSport is now positioned at $27,990 driveaway and gets the same features as the DStyle but as the name suggests is a sportier vehicle with exterior styling cues to match: compact rear spoiler, chrome grille and tailgate trim, a dual exhaust pipe, drilled aluminium pedals and 17-inch diamond-tipped alloys. Climate control is also added.
On top of the new driveaway pricing, Citroen is sweetening the deal with metallic paint and proximity parking sensors gratis.
Two engine/gearbox combinations are offered, the DS3 DStyle paired with a five-speed automatic with steering wheel paddle shifters, which is mated to a 1.4-litre four-cylinder petrol engine developing 70kW.
The DS3 DSport gets a more powerful turbocharged 1.6-litre BMW-developed engine, outputting 115kW. It is coupled to a six-speed manual transmission.
Sales of the Citroen DS3 in Australia for 2012 are up on the previous year, with 179 vehicles registered to the end of October, compared with 154 in the same period in 2011. The Citroen commands around a 10% share of the premium light car market and is the third most popular seller, behind the Fiat 500's 316 sales and Peugeot 207's 820 sales for 17.4 and 45 per cent market share respectively.
Citroen is also hoping its continued World Rally Championship success will drive a few more buyers into showrooms, as Sébastien Loeb took out his record ninth world title in the Citroen DS3 World Rally car.
