Citroen readies vehicular splendor

Citroen has announced a multitude of vehicles to be displayed at the 2011 Geneva motor show, including the world's most beautiful car, the DS4, special editions of the C3 and C6, a bedazzling concept car, plus equipment previews of its e-HDi micro-hybrid technology.
The public showing of the DS4 in Geneva is fitting for a car voted 'most beautiful car of the year' by some 60,000 people from 62 different countries, and is the second model in the Citroen's premium DS range after the DS3.
Citroen's DS4 will also get the concept car treatment, the French automaker prepping the DS4 Purple for display (first and second images), which is billed as "an object of desire and distinction that subtly reinterprets the jeweller’s craft." Beyond the fancy wheels and paintwork it's hard to see what else is new, but it is likely the interior will host the truly jaw-dropping changes. Other Citroen vehicles on display at the 2011 Geneva Autosalon include a pair of concept cars, the C3 Red Block and C6 Noir et Blanc. This pair of vehicles are "reinventing codes and dazzling audiences with all-new and expressive approaches to colours and materials" according to Citroen, and hint at possible customisation options in the near future.
Two special edition models on show are the DS3 and C5 Serie Noire, which improve on the standard levels of equipment to deliver distinctive looks. However the local importer, Ateco Automotive, explained that these limited edition cars have not been confirmed for sale in Australia.
The DS3 Serie Noire comes with matte black exterior paint work, 17-inch diamond-tipped Bellone black alloy wheels, plus a re-upholstered interior featuring Lama leather and sat nav. The DS3 Serie Noire will be limited to just 750 units.
Citroen's C5 Serie Noire also gains matte black 'Perla Nera' paint, 19-inch matte grey alloy Hephaïs wheels, and Criollo integral leather upholstery covering seats, dashboard and centre console. The car also features hydractive suspension.
Technology showcases at the Citroen stand include the French car maker's micro-hybrid e-HDi system, which will be introduced on a number of different models in the range. For the Geneva show, the e-HDi system will be displayed in the Berlingo commercial vehicle.
On the green theme, Citroen also plans to present two electric vehicles, the C-ZERO and Berlingo First, while on the flipside the hard-charging Citroën DS3 WRC rally car will also be in attendance, adding a little machismo to the French car maker's stand as it eyes off its seventh Manufacturer's World Championship title.
