Clarkson to get a Grille-ing

New Aussie podcast debuts with Jeremy Clarkson in the hot seat

A new auto industry podcast debuts today and it’s got heavy hitters as its host and one of its first guests.

Posted monthly, The Grille launches today with Greg Rust as its host and Jeremy Clarkson as the star of the first episode.

The Grille is backed by the Victorian Automotive Chamber of Commerce (VACC), with Bendix its naming rights sponsor.

Regular panellists will include VACC CEO Geoff Gwilym, and well-known actor and car guy, Shane Jacobson.

“We just felt like there was a gap in the automotive space for this type of show. Plenty of people talk about automotive in panel-style discussions, but we wanted a podcast with an almost FM radio program feel about it – pacy and fun but, importantly, with authority,” award-winning broadcaster Rust told carsales.

“Having such a respected industry commentator like Geoff [Gwilym] onboard, and the resources and know-how available to VACC, really gives The Grille a point of difference,” Rust said.

According to Gwilym, the entertainment Rust and Jacobson deliver will be key to the podcast’s success.

“There’s a good reason for teaming with Greg and Shane ... We completely understand there are two components to a good podcast. One is great content, delivered in an authoritative way. The other essential element is entertainment. The Grille delivers both,” Gwilym said.

Having Clarkson as a guest on the first episode is also a coup. Jacobson worked with Clarkson as part of the cast of Top Gear Australia and during Top Gear Live events Down Under.

“It’s such a rare thrill to be working with the best in the business, and this team really is the best,” said Jacobson.

“Greg is so knowledgeable and well-connected, and Geoff is the go-to guy for industry comment. What he doesn’t know isn’t worth knowing. I’m really geared up for the show. Talking all things automotive? Try to stop me,” Jacobson stated.

The Grille is available for download from LiSTNR podcast platform.
