Clarkson, Hammond and May announce The Grand Tour

New Amazon Prime car show to consist of 11 episodes plus one Christmas special

Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond have announced their long-awaited new car TV show will be called The Grand Tour, or GT for short.

Streamed via Amazon Prime, the new Top Gear rival will begin airing towards the end of this year, but an exact date is still to be confirmed.

Shifting the format slightly, according to Clarkson, each episode will be filmed in a different location around the globe but the Top Gear style of filming part of the episode in front of a live studio audience is set to carry over, says the host.

Ticketing for each studio show will begin via a lottery-style competition in the next couple of months.

Tweeting about the new show, Clarkson said: "So the Grand Tour (GT for short) will come from a tent, which we will put in a different location every week. Your town?"

James May, meanwhile, announced that he had other ideas for the title of the new car show.

"I wanted to call it 'Nige', or 'Roger'. We needed a name, they're names," May said.
