Once again, Shannons will be supporting the Classic Australian Car Show, which this year moves to the Flemington Racecourse.
Muscle cars will be a major drawcard for the event, appearing in a separate section, which the organisers have called the Muscle Car Corral. On display, there'll be GT Falcons, Monaros, XU-1 Toranas and 'Six-Pack' Chargers.
The show -- and recent auction prices for classic Aussie cars -- indicates that the interest in these machines has never been greater. According to Shannons, GT Falcons are fetching as much as half a million dollars or more for an XY GT HO Phase III (pictured). Incredible, but true.
Similarly, old Monaros (yellow 327 GTS HK pictured) are selling for vast sums of money and an E38 Charger R/T recently sold for $140,000.
Over 400 vehicles are expected to be entered and -- as well as the muscle cars -- will include restored cars, custom cars and new models from the four local manufacturers.
For those who hanker after curiosities, the stillborn Leyland P76 coupe, the Force 7V, will be present in its original pre-production form. It will be in with the P76 sedans.
The event will be held on July 22, with spectators allowed entry from 10.30 am. Cost is $12 per adult and children under 14 free. For further information, ring (03) 9890 0524 or check out www.allmakesswapmeet.com.au.
