EV conversion specialist Everrati Automotive and classic car restoration firm Hilton & Moss have announced a new strategic partnership to restore, modernise and sell a batch of Mercedes-Benz W113 ‘Pagoda’ SL sports cars.
Based in the UK, the project will see Hilton & Moss strip the donor vehicles down to the bare chassis and rebuild them using a combination of original, new and recondition parts before Everrati installs a 134kW/550Nm battery-electric powertrain, drawing current from a 57kWh battery pack.
The new powertrain slashes the six-cylinder 280SL Pagoda’s original 0-100km/h time down from 8.8 seconds to 7.0sec, and is claimed to offer an effective driving range of more than 257km.
In addition to modernising and restoring one of the most collectible and desirable Mercedes-Benz cars of time, Everrati executives said the partnership also opens up avenues to add more Mercedes models to its portfolio in the future given Hilton & Moss’ 40-year history with the brand.
“Everrati prides itself on working with partners who meet extremely high-quality standards,” co-founder and CEO Justin Lunny said.
“With its industry-leading expertise in Mercedes-Benz vehicles and passion for exquisite restoration, Hilton & Moss is the perfect partner to help us redefine the W113 SL ‘Pagoda’ experience.
“We’re excited to work with such an established name in the world of classic vehicles and look forward to offering more redefined iconic models in partnership with Hilton & Moss in the future.”
Hilton Group founder Peter Hilton was equally thrilled with the new project and said the Everrati powertrain would “bring another exciting dimension” to the classic Mercedes experience.
“Having developed 40 years of knowledge with Mercedes-Benz vehicles, we pride ourselves in providing an authentic feel behind the wheel,” he said.
“Everrati’s EV technology and engineering bring another exciting dimension to this experience, and we’re delighted to have the opportunity to offer our combined expertise to customers seeking a stylish and thrilling classic motoring experience.”
Pre-orders for the electrified Pagodas are currently being taken via the Everrati website though pricing details are still to be confirmed.
Needless to say, they won’t come cheap…
