Building on the wholesale changes debuted by the eighth-generation Volkswagen Golf hatchback range, the 2021 Volkswagen Golf GTI promises to reset the benchmark for hot hatches.
With a stiffer new and more capable chassis, upgraded electronics including new Vehicle Dynamics Manager and Driving Dynamics Manager systems, and the optional adaptive suspension, the new Golf GTI’s list of equipment reads more like a bespoke sports car’s than a versatile hatchback.
And while it may not have an outright power and torque advantage over its Hyundai i30 N or Renault Megane RS competition, what it does promise is to be the most capable and polished Volkswagen Golf GTI ever.
