Cool new BMW X3 and X4 M40i Frozen Editions inbound
Bespoke paint, upgraded brakes, more toys and exclusivity headline latest special-edition BMWsBMW Australia is back at it with the special editions, this week unveiling its new 2022 BMW X3 and X4 M40i Frozen Edition models and, no, they don’t have anything to do with the Disney franchise.
Priced from $142,900 and $152,900 drive-away respectively, the Frozen Editions carry hefty price premiums over the standard versions which retail for $115,900 in X3 M40i guise and $123,900 in X4 M40i form – each before on-road costs.
Thankfully the Frozen Editions justify their sizeable pricetags through the inclusion of a heap of extra standard gear and bespoke touches over their donor cars, the most obvious one being ‘BMW Individual Frozen Deep Grey metallic’ paintwork, carbon-fibre mirror caps and gloss-black M Shadow Line kidney grille, while the X4 also scores a carbon-fibre lip spoiler.
Said paintwork is then covered in factory-spec sun protection glazing, while red M Sport brake callipers lurk behind the 21-inch alloy wheels.
Inside the cabin you’ll find black Vernasca leather upholstery with red stitching, a Sensatec-wrapped instrument panel (also with red stitching), tri-colour-stitched M seatbelts and a smattering of M-spec carbon trim.
Standard equipment highlights carried over from the standard versions include a 12.3-inch infotainment interface, digital instrument cluster, tri-zone climate control, powered tailgate, digital radio, electric seat adjustment, head-up display, sat-nav, reversing camera, leather steering wheel trim, wireless phone charging and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, among almost countless other features.
No changes have been made to the 285kW/500Nm turbocharged 3.0-itre straight six-cylinder engine residing under the bonnet, meaning the 4.8-second 0-100km/h claim remains for both the wagon and coupe.
Just 37 Frozen Edition vehicles will be coming to Australia, comprising 17 X3s and 20 X4s, with first deliveries expected to start in the second quarter of the year.
