From royalty to celebrities and Formula 1 team bosses, million-dollar car collections are nothing out of the ordinary for the rich and famous, where an ultra-rare Ferrari F40 could easily be a daily driver. New research from Bill Plant Driving School has revealed which celebrities own the largest and most desirable collection of vehicles, as well as whose garage is worth the most.
According to the research, the Sultan of Brunei, Hassanal Bolkiah tops the list with his estimated $5 billion fleet of more than a whopping 7000 vehicles.
It’s unclear just how many and exactly which cars the Sultan of Brunei still owns, with rumours suggesting financial woes forced him to sell many of his vehicles, which are said to range from several Ferrari F40s and McLaren F1s, along with examples of the Porsche 959 911, Lamborghini Urraco and Koenigsegg CCX, just to name a few.
Fashion icon Ralph Lauren is another big spender when it comes to cars, with a collection worth an estimated $350 million.
Lauren’s collection, however, is a bit smaller, made up of around 100 vehicles said to range from hypercars to vintage race cars, including a 1929 “Blower Bentley”, a 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO and a Lamborghini Reventon Roadster, among many others.
Almost as impressive, is Aston Martin F1 Team boss Lawrence Stroll’s $255 million garage, equipped with a host of vintage Ferraris. There’s also a selection of McLarens, a Porsche 959 911 and, a Ford GT. And those are just the ones we know of…
Perhaps more well known for his love of cars – and even his very own TV program to show them off – is US media personality Jay Leno who owns a $150 million garage.
As for the most desired – according to Google searches – Jay Leno tops the list and racks up 175,500 annual searches, followed by Cristiano Ronaldo at 112,000 searches. The car collections of Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, and Kylie Jenner are also regularly searched, each with around 50,000 annual searches.
