BMW Australia has taken the unusual step of introducing an option pack for the BMW M2 with 'Performance', 'Launch' and 'Parts' in the title – but without any substantive gains in acceleration, top speed, cornering or braking to go with it.
The M Performance Parts Launch Package for the BMW M2 Competition is a visual and comfort-focused amalgam of M parts. At $15,990 installed, the option pack takes the BMW M2 Competition's price to $120,890 before on-road costs and requires seven hours to fit.
BMW says that the option pack is a tribute to the manufacturer's growing expertise in carbon-fibre production – evident in that antithesis of the M2, the BMW i3 EV.
The constituent parts for the M2's new option pack are:
Unfinished carbon-fibre bonnet,
Carbon-fibre mirror caps,
Carbon-fibre sill extensions,
Carbon-fibre front grille surrounds,
Carbon-fibre front splitter,
Carbon-fibre rear spoiler,
Carbon-fibre door sill plates, with ‘M Performance’ lettering,
Carbon-fibre side gill surrounds,
Carbon-fibre diffuser,
Carbon-fibre interior kit.
The interior kit comprises carbon-fibre gear surround and interior trims,
steering wheel ‘Pro’ with centre highlight stitching, carbon trim and ‘M Performance’ lettering.
BMW advises the parts are available separately, with bespoke decal kits, alloy wheels and carbon-fibre trim pieces to be added to the accessory range throughout next year.
