Council for 4WD industry

4WD companies unite for strategic approach to industry issues

Australian four-wheel-drive parts and accessory companies have been invited to join an industry council to better serve the 4WD sector's interests in the public and to promote road safety.

Stuart Charity, Director of the Australian Automotive Aftermarket Association (AAAA), said the council's objective is to "promote and facilitate growth in the 4WD sector, through effective communication and education and provide specific regulatory advice and advocacy".

The council also supports other groups providing positive promotion of 4WD activities.

The council will be directed by a steering committee made up of representatives from East Coast Bullbars, Motospecs, TJM Products, Alloy Motor Accessories, ARB Corporation, 4WD Warehouse, Michelle's Sacs and the Australian National Four Wheel Drive Council of NSW.

"The four-wheel-drive parts and accessories industry makes a significant contribution to the Australian economy through manufacturing, research and development, and export and employs tens of thousands of Australian workers," says Charity.

"This national group will provide a proactive industry response, where appropriate, to misinformation circulated in the public arena on the impact of 4x4 vehicles, parts and accessories. It will also aim to promote road safety through the development of standards that ensure good design, quality and manufacturing principles for four-wheel-drive accessories."
