Countdown to Targa: four days to go

Team Skoda Carsales debut at Targa Tasmania is just days away

The clock's ticking... Loudly! But the good news is the Team Skoda Carsales' Targa Tasmania tilt is on target.

This morning our squad's 'new' Octavia RS tarmac rally car (pictured) rolled out of Performance Parts and Engineering's workshop in Hallam (Vic) complete and ready to hit the Apple Isle's roads.

Built in record time, the rally car was -- just a few weeks ago -- Skoda's one-off RS-P special. Conceived to grab headlines for the new-to-Oz Volkswagen-owned Czech brand, the car has been race-prepped with a custom welded rollcage and all the safety equipment necessary to compete in the Tasmanian closed road tarmac event.

Though largely standard mechanically, the car now looks the piece thanks to its striking Skoda Carsales livery -- the work of Melbourne-based vehicle-branding experts, Decently Exposed.

In addition to rolling out our rally car, this morning also sees our special Team Skoda Carsales minisite www.carsales.com.au/targatasmania go live.

Featuring all our Team Skoda Carsales text coverage, the site also includes the latest galleries, video, 'follow us' links and direct connections to the Skoda and Targa Tasmania websites.

There you can read a more detailed account of the building of the rally car as well as a pocket history of Targa and more.

You can view our latest Team Skoda Carsales video at the minisite or click over to our main CarsalesTV video homepage to view all the Team Skoda Carsales videos, including the unveiling of the RS-P, recce videos and our impressions of the Octavia RS TDI turbodiesel model.

Targa Tasmania officially kicks off with the George Town Prologue stage on Tuesday, April 27 and then covers 39 competitive closed road stages over five days, finishing in Hobart on Sunday, May 2.

This year the event has attracted more than 270 entries including factory-supported cars from Mazda, Nissan, Mitsubishi, Subaru, Toyota, Audi, Hyundai, Porsche and Lamborghini and, of course, Skoda!

Look out for our blow by blow coverage of Team Skoda Carsales and the iconic Tassie event in the coming week.
