The gorgeous Laguna Coupe Concept which starred at last year's Frankfurt show was displayed in production form at Renault's stand in Paris.
The Coupe will be the Laguna's range-topper, boasting '4Control' four-wheel steering, performance-oriented engine range and high-end equipment.
Europeans will be offered a choice of V6 turbodiesel and petrol engines, and 2.0-litre diesel and turbocharged petrol units.
Laguna Coupe shares its front-end styling with the sedan model but the two-door's striking rear features slimline LED tail lights, diffuser-style trim and chrome-tipped tailpipes.
The Coupe introduces a state-of-the-art sound system which is destined for Renault's other luxury models. The MP3-compatible Bose system comes with 10 speakers.
Renault's 4Control all-wheel steering was developed with the company's Sport Technologies arm. The chassis was first offered with a GT version of the Laguna sold in Europe, with an aim to sportier handling as well as low-speed manoeuvrability.
The Coupe is four-seater only in an effort to create a "lounge effect" for rear passengers. The spacious cabin is trimmed with luxury materials including leather and brushed aluminium.
While Europeans will see the Laguna Coupe in showrooms almost immediately, Renault Australia says local plans have yet to be finalised but it's unlikely the two-door will make it Down Under.
