BMW's iconic 6 Series range has just doubled in size following the introduction of two coupe models for the Aussie market.
Priced at $178,300 and $232,300 respectively, the 640i and 650i coupes knock fractions of a second off the 0-100km/h times posted by the heavier convertibles already on sale. As for the convertibles, the coupes are both powered by turbocharged petrol engines; the 640i boasting an inline six capable of 235kW and 450Nm for an acceleration time of 5.4 seconds. The 650i is V8-powered and develops 300kW and 600Nm to reach 100km/h in 4.9 seconds.
BMW claims combined-cycle fuel consumption figures of 10.6L/100km for the 650i and 7.8L/100km for the 640i. Standard features contributing to the lower fuel consumption include Brake Energy Regneration and electrically-assisted steering. And like the convertibles, the coupes come with an eight-speed automatic transmission, channelling drive to the rear wheels.
As standard, the coupes come with keyless entry, LED fog lights, adaptive bi-xenon headlights with High Beam Assist, Park Distance Control (front/rear), cruise control, rear-view camera and electric/glass sunroof. Additionally, the 650i gains Adaptive Drive, ventilated Comfort Seats, soft-close doors, Professional HiFi audio system and Surround View.
Dealers are expecting the new arrivals from next month.
