Cupra has confirmed pricing and specifications for the Leon VZx Sportstourer AWD, bringing a high-performance wagon back to the Australian market to fill the gap left by the discontinued Volkswagen Golf R Wagon.

Joining the updated Leon range introduced in late 2025, the new flagship variant introduces all-wheel drive to the local Leon lineup and delivers 245kW from a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine.
The Leon VZx Sportstourer shares its drivetrain with the Cupra Formentor VZx, pairing strong outputs with a more advanced all-wheel drive system than the front-drive Leon hatch range.
A standout feature is the rear torque-splitting differential, which can actively distribute power between the rear wheels to maximise traction. The system can send drive to a single rear wheel, enabling a dedicated drift mode more commonly seen in high-end hot hatches and sports cars.
Performance claims are equally strong, with a 0-100km/h time of 4.8 seconds placing it among the quickest vehicles in its segment.

Despite its performance focus, the VZx Sportstourer retains the practicality expected of a wagon, offering five-seat accommodation and generous cargo space aimed at buyers balancing lifestyle and driving engagement.
Standard equipment includes 19-inch alloy wheels, cross-drilled performance brakes and Cupra’s distinctive lighting design, while the cabin features leather-appointed upholstery, heated front seats with memory function, a Sennheiser premium audio system and a powered tailgate, alongside adaptive suspension via Dynamic Chassis Control.
An optional Extreme Package adds further performance upgrades, including carbon-backed bucket seats and larger Akebono six-piston front calipers.
The Cupra Leon VZx Sportstourer is available to order in Australia from late June, with first arrivals expected from September.
With fewer than 100 Leons sold locally so far in 2026, the new VZx Sportstourer is expected to act as a halo product for the range, potentially drawing more buyers into showrooms.
It will come backed by a five-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty and five years of roadside assistance.
