Cut-price, four-cylinder 2025 Mazda CX-60 here next month

Orders open for Mazda’s significantly cheaper rear-drive, non-turbo CX-60 trio

The News

Mazda Australia has made its CX-60 medium SUV even more accessible through the addition of three new rear-drive variants, all powered by the CX-5’s venerable 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine.

The Key Details

  • Rear-drive CX-60 available in Pure, Evolve and Touring forms
  • Prices start from $44,240 plus on-road costs
  • Non-turbo CX-5 engine outputs 138kW/250Nm
  • No form of electrification

The Finer Details

The addition of the ‘G25’ trio expands the 2025 Mazda CX-60 portfolio out to a staggering 18 variants and lowers its price of entry by a cool $6000.

The trade-off for the lower prices is a heap less power, torque, grip and higher fuel consumption than the six-cylinder and plug-in hybrid versions, but there’s now a fair bit more overlap between the CX-60 and its CX-5 segment bunk buddy.

The G25s send drive exclusively the rear wheels via the now familiar eight-speed automatic transmission and will supposedly return 7.5L/100km on the combined cycle.

In terms of equipment, all three newcomers match their six-cylinder counterparts, with headline gear on the base Pure ($44,240) trim including a 10.25-inch infotainment system, 18-inch alloy wheels, a 360-dgeree camera, 7.0-inch driver’s display, an eight-speaker sound system, smartphone mirroring, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, cloth upholstery, dual-zone climate control, sat-nav, heated, folding and auto-dimming wing mirrors, plus front and rear parking sensors.

The Evolve ($49,240) builds on this with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, TFT LCD multi-information meter display, see-through view for the 360-degree camera, Maztex upholstery, Cruising and traffic support, driver monitoring, front cross traffic alert, power tailgate and a wireless phone charger.

Above that, the Touring ($52,240) adds leather upholstery, memory function for the wing mirrors and a driver’s seat, power-adjustable heated front seats and an LED lamp for the rear console.
