German EV start-up eBussy has announced it will launch a new range of affordable electric vans, pick-ups and kombis -- all based on a dedicated modular platform -- in 2021.
The compact eBussy EV range will include people-mover, delivery van, tipper truck, pick-up and cab/chassis models, to name just few of the 10 possible body styles.
Better still for markets like Australia, the eBussy's new underpinnings are so flexible that conversion to right-hand drive takes a matter of seconds as it involves simply sliding the steering wheel from one side of the vehicle to the other.
Alternatively, drivers will have the option of a central, McLaren F1-style, driving position.
This is made possible by a steering wheel that has no physical connection to the wheels, with a steer-by-wire system used instead.
As standard, the cute zero-emission eBussy comes equipped with a small 10kWh battery that, thanks to a lithe 450kg kerb weight, provides for a range of up to 200km.
If you need more range, a larger 30kWh battery will be available that stretches the distance between charges to a very respectable 600km.
Driving the wheels is a small in-hub electric motor that produces just 15kW – but that weak-sounding peak power output is combined with a thumping 1000Nm of torque.
Alongside an efficient brake energy recovery system, helping stretch the range of each eBussy body style are solar panels packaged within the roof.
