This one is certain to appeal to sci-fi and Star-Wars fans, but also those parents who would prefer their children keep quiet when the sat-nav is giving vocal directions.
Satellite navigation company TomTom has released a quartet of new voice effects for its products that can be downloaded from its website for a nominal fee. Though we don't have a TomTom device to test the system, there are a few samples on the company's official website and they are very impressive (and they also made us laugh), guaranteed to add a touch of character to what are normally dull navigation instructions.
Darth Vader's legacy hasn't been tarnished, with the hissing breath and commanding intensity still clearly audible in the voice-overs, along with numerous mentions of the force, the dark side and the Sith.
TomTom will also launch Yoda, C3PO and Han Solo voice-overs in due course, all of which should provide motorists with a novel way to receive street directions.
We've also included a very amusing launch video for the voice-over recording session with a hapless audio technician and Darth Vader himself. Well worth a look.
