De Tomaso is back with a bang, having just revealed the 2023 De Tomaso P900 track-only hypercar.
Tipping the scales at just 900kg (dry), the carbon-fibre-bodied P900 is powered by a 6.2-litre V12 petrol engine expected to scream out 662kW and rev to a stratospheric 12,300rpm.
If the output prediction rings true, it will endow the P900 with a perfect 1:1 power-to-weight ratio (1hp/kg) which in turn should yield some genuinely frightening performance figures.

The catch is the screaming V12 won’t be ready until the back end of 2024, so De Tomaso is offering its more impatient clients the option of a Formula 1-derived V10 engine.
These versions will be ready for delivery in the second quarter of next year, though we wonder how many of the up to 18 deep-pocketed customers – only 18 P900s will be produced – will want to settle for anything less than the headline act given the $US3 million ($A4.48m) asking price.

Drive will be sent to the rear wheels via a sequential Xtrac transmission regardless of which powerplant is stuffed in behind the cabin, and will be complemented by a host of aggressive and active aerodynamic features.
Yes, that enormous and stunning looking rear wing is active to the point of having a drag reduction system (DRS).

Just about every panel features some sort of ventage, slatting, fin or other aerodynamic aid, a trait reflective of the extensive testing and development done within Formula 1 wind tunnels.
Lucky owners will have access to what the brand is calling the ‘De Tomaso Competizione’ driver training program to help them get the most out of their new toy safely, with a dedicated team of mechanics and engineers to help with the vehicle set-up, transportation, performance analysing and tuning.
There’s been an influx of low-volume, high-end speed machines being revealed recently, including the theoretically road-legal Praga Bohema, Pagani Utopia, Czinger 21C, Koenigsegg CC850, Bugatti W16 Mistral and McLaren Solus GT.
