Deal hunter: Discount for new Audi A3

Meanwhile MG continues to offer complementary gifts as Mitsubishi targets ABN holders with club-cab Triton deal

Gob-smacking discounts on new models remain thin on the ground amid the global supply chain crisis, but there are still attractive deals to be had – like the new 2022 Audi A3 Sportback 35 TFSI automatic that continues to be available for $51,495 drive-away.

That might not sound like much of a saving given the entry-level premium compact hatch carries a list price of $46,900 plus on-road costs, but the savings will vary from state to state and Audi is also bundling metallic paint into the mix, adding another $1250 worth of value.

The 35 TFSI is the most affordable variant in the latest Audi A3 range and is powered by a mild-hybrid 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that sends 115kW/250Nm to the front wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Anyone who reads our monthly VFACTS wraps will likely know by now that sales of traditional passenger cars like hatchbacks, sedans and wagons are on the decline and have been for some time now as the allure of high-riding SUVs and 4x4 utes goes from strength to strength.

MG is leading the way in the sub-$40,000 small SUV market at the moment, with its two-pronged ZS/ZST line-up accounting for 17 per cent of sales in the segment to July this year.

To protect its position, the Chinese brand is offering a ‘complimentary gift’ with the purchase of certain models – one of which being the 2022 MG ZST Vibe automatic.

The nature of this gift changes every so often, but it’s little more than a nice touch accompanying what’s already, at least on paper, an appealing small SUV package.

Available from $27,490 drive-away (plus the free gift), the ZST Vibe is the second of four grades comprising the ZST line-up.

Compact SUVs aren’t much good to tradies chasing a new work vehicle though, which is why Mitsubishi is offering the 2022 Mitsubishi Triton GLX+ MR 4x4 Club Cab Pick-up automatic to ABN holders for $46,740 drive-away.

Private buyers will need to front up another $500 if they want the same vehicle, but both figures mark handsome savings over the $44,440 list price by the time on-road costs are factored in.

The GLX+ is the only trim level for those interested in a club-cab Triton 4x4 pick-up, with standard equipment highlights comprising 16-inch alloys, a 7.0-inch infotainment interface with smartphone mirroring, locking rear diff, part-time 4x4, digital radio and a two-speaker sound system.
