There seems to be no stopping the popularity of SUVs, sales of which continue to leave those of traditional passenger cars in their dust and, in some cases, cause some cars to actually morph into SUVs.
The appeal of higher driving positions and extra ground clearance is magnified when manufacturers come out with tempting drive-away deals like the one Ford currently has for the 2022 Ford Puma ST-Line V automatic – the flagship of Ford Australia’s small SUV range.
The Puma ST-Line is arguably the most dynamic light or even small SUV on the market this side of a Hyundai Kona N and the flagship V blends that great little chassis with almost all the mod-cons you’ll ever need.
This premium kit level is reflected by the ST-Line V’s $35,890 plus on-roads asking price, but Ford is scraping around two thirds of the statutory costs off and offering the lavish little high-rider for $37,500 drive-away.
Utes are the other booming sector at the moment and have been for at least the past decade and a half.
Isuzu Ute Australia is the current value king of the mid-size ute sector at the moment, still offering entry-level and flagship Isuzu D-MAX variants with competitive drive-away pricing.
The base 2022 Isuzu D-MAX SX High Ride 4x2 manual for instance is being offered from $31,990 drive-away with an alloy tray worth more than $2500 thrown in for free; gifting prospective customers a saving of around $8000 by the time it’s on the road.
MG Australia is another brand with a full-time promotion in place to help entice customers into showrooms, except its strategy is to offer cars with a complimentary gift.
One of those cars is the 2022 MG MG3 Excite automatic, which retails for $20,490 drive-away and comes with the complimentary gift of an ‘organic gift pack’ comprising a branded MG Motor reusable tote bag, organic wine and tea.
The Excite is the top-spec MG3 and comes with 16-inch two-tone machined alloy wheels, satellite-navigation, a six-speaker sound system and reversing camera, among other features.
