Deal hunter: Ford Puma stalks bigger market share
Ford and Hyundai hone in on urban buyers, while Isuzu plugs away with its D-MAX promotionSUVs are all the rage at the moment – especially the light, small and mid-size varieties – thanks to their tougher design, elevated driving position, interior flexibility and value.
With so many models now available in the newly categorised light SUV segment, Ford is doing its best to draw attention to its mid-range 2022 Ford Puma ST-Line – one of the more expensive compact mainstream SUVs.
Usually carrying an asking price of $32,690 plus on-road costs, Ford’s pint-size high-rider is currently being advertised for $34,340 drive-away; saving buyers more than $1000 in on-road costs – likely more depending on which state you live in.
The ST-Line is the athlete of the Puma line-up, combining the range-wide three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine with a sporty suspension tune and some edgier looks to create a genuinely engaging and fun-to-drive little car.
But if $34,340 drive-away for a city runabout is a little bit much for you or if you haven’t bought into the whole SUV craze then Hyundai has you covered with its 2022 Hyundai i30 automatic.
The cheapest automatic i30 you can buy, this car is currently on special for $27,990 drive-away, compared to its usual list price of $25,720 plus on-roads.
Like Ford with the Puma, Hyundai is offering small-car buyers savings of more than $1000 with its drive-away offer, not to mention the added simplicity and peace of mind when it comes to budgeting.
Wrapping up this week’s deal hunter is Isuzu Ute Australia’s ever-enticing D-MAX drive-away offer, though this time we’re referring to the base model and not the flagship X-Terrain.
Said base model is the 2022 Isuzu D-MAX SX High Ride 4x2 Single Cab Chassis 1.9L manual which, now it’s free of the stop-sale order issued earlier in the year, carries a retail price of $32,200 plus ORCs.
Thanks to the drive-away offer though, you can presently nab an SX 4x2 for $31,990 including on-road costs – and with the added bonus of an ‘economy alloy tray’ usually costing in excess of $2500.
With $210 shaved off the asking price, plus the several grands worth of tray and included on-road costs, single-cab ute buyers can save thousands in comparison with speccing one up yourself outside of the promotion.
