Deal hunter: Hyundai Tucson stock boost

Hyundai cuts the wait list while Alfa Romeo and Volkswagen add value

The new-vehicle stock shortage due to the global semi-conductor crisis has been well documented, but at least one brand has turned the tide.

Hyundai isn’t offering any eye-catching drive-away specials or savings this week, but it has just landed a big shipment of Hyundai Tucson vehicles, cutting the wait time for buyers of our Best Mid-Size SUV for 2021.

Specifically, a heap of 2022 Hyundai Tucson Highlander diesels are now in stock and ready for immediate delivery – in stark contrast to the extended delivery times being faced by Hyundai N customers at the moment.

Hyundai Australia tells us it has just received 1109 diesel Highlanders and 1057 diesel Elites in dealer stock right now, with another 1000 units slated for production this month.

So while there might not be any savings up for grabs, at least you won’t have to whittle away the months waiting for your new high-spec diesel medium SUV.

If you’re in the market for something a bit sportier, meantime, there’s an attractive drive-away deal available now for the 2021 Alfa Romeo Giulia Sport.

Alfa Romeo Giulia Sport

Alfa’s entry-level sedan usually carries a starting price $63,950 plus on-road costs, which translates to as much as $70,000 by the time it’s on the road depending on where you’re buying.

But for the time being at least, the Italian brand is offering buyers the chance to drive away in an MY21-plated Giulia Sport for $64,950 with no more to pay, representing a saving of thousands of dollars that could instead be used to spruce the car up with a few optional extras.

The Giulia is already a gorgeous looking thing, but how much cooler would it be with some carbon-fibre trim inserts or adaptive dampers…

Finally this week, for those chasing a classy dual-cab 4x4 ute and don’t want to wait for a new Ford Ranger, Volkswagen has you covered with the MY22 Volkswagen Amarok Core auto (both TDI420 and TDI550) including a complimentary Enduro Accessory Pack.

Volkswagen Amarok TDI 550 Core

Available free until June 30, the Enduro Accessory Pack usually costs $1200 and includes a black sports bar, black bonnet protector and black side decals, all of which serve to toughen up the look of the base Amarok and the V6.

For reference, the TDI420 Core automatic retails from $48,890 plus on-road costs and the gruntier TDI550 version goes for $53,890, representing good value as the new-generation Amarok continues to inch its way closer.
