Deal hunter: Last chance for EOFY specials

Attractive offers on Alfa Romeo Giulia sports sedan, Hyundai Staria Load van and MG HS mid-size SUV

Ever been tempted by a European sports sedan but couldn’t quite stomach the asking price?

Well now could be the time to pull the trigger because there are thousands of dollars to be had off the drive-away price of the 2021 Alfa Romeo Giulia Sport at the moment.

Usually retailing for $63,950 plus on-road costs, Alfa’s entry-level four-door is currently being advertised for $64,950 drive-away as the Italian marque continues to make room for MY22 stock.

With all of the on-road costs being bundled into one convenient $1000 premium, buyers can save thousands of dollars and rest easy knowing their purchase budget isn’t going to blow out by costs they weren’t anticipating.

The Sport might be the baby of the Giulia range but the 147kW/330Nm four-cylinder turbo-petrol powered sedan still packs an engaging rear-wheel drive punch.

For reference, 100km/h comes up in a claimed 6.6 seconds and, thanks to rear doors and a generous second-row bench and boot, friends and family can enjoy it too.

Meanwhile in commercial vehicle world, Hyundai is still offering ABN holders a solid deal on its 2022 Hyundai Staria Load automatic, with the new-gen delivery van currently carrying a drive-away price of $47,990.

2022 Hyundai Staria Load

Given the Staria Load typically starts from $45,790 plus ORCs, this might not sound like that much of a bargain to some, but it actually marks a saving of $2000 or more by the time it’s parked in the loading zone.

The exact saving will obviously vary from state to state, but in Western Australia the Staria Load’s on-road costs amount to $5190.80. Add that to the list price and the grand total by the time you drive off the lot is $50,930.80, meaning WA buyers get a $2940.80 discount.

For reference and comparison, buyers in Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland will save $2280.10, $2161.46 and $1970.35 respectively.

Finally, MG is continuing to offer its customers a “complimentary MG gift” with certain models, which this week includes the 2022 MG HS Vibe automatic.

2022 MG HS Vibe

The Vibe 1.5T is the second most affordable offering within the Chinese brand’s expanding mid-size SUV line-up, retailing for an appealing $31,990 drive-away and featuring keyless entry, leatherette seat trim, climate control, chromed fog lights and roof rails, and various other toys as standard.

MG’s complimentary gift promo was initially conceived to help the brand shift leftover stock and make room for incoming model year vehicles, but evidently it’s found favour with consumers because it’s still around.

But given how competitive the mainstream mid-size SUV segment is at the moment, it’s no surprise manufacturers are coming up with alternative ways of enticing new-car buyers into their showrooms, especially with only a week of the current financial year remaining.
