Deal hunter: Massive discounts off 2024 Ford E-Transit

Plus some tidy drive-away offers on base Volkswagen Golf and Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross variants

The battery-electric commercial vehicle market is in its infancy in Australia, but with more auto brands promising new electrified utes and vans every month, it won’t be too long before they’re everywhere.

Until then, battery-powered commercials are quite dear to buy, which means a promo on the scale of Ford’s current offer shouldn’t be ignored by fleet buyers or those in the market for a new zero-emissions load-lugger.

The offer in question applies to the 2024 Ford E-Transit 420L Mid Roof, which is currently on sale from just $99,990 drive-away instead of the usual $104,990 plus on-road costs – a saving of more than $10,000 in most states and territories by the time it’s on the road.

One of just two E-Transit variants offered in Australia, the 420L Mid Roof has a claimed WLTP driving range of up to 307km thanks to its 68kWh lithium-ion battery, which powers a single motor on the rear axle outputting 198kW/430Nm.

Large vans, especially electric ones, don’t make the best family vehicles or urban runabouts for the average consumer, which is where the 2023 Volkswagen Golf 110TSI Life automatic comes in.

The entry-level Golf variant usually retails from $38,590 plus on-roads but can currently be had from $40,990 drive-away, saving new-car buyers at least a couple of grand in statutory costs depending on the state or territory of purchase.

A similar deal is being applied to the 2023 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross ES automatic at the moment, except in this instance the drive-away deal is underpinned by a bonus $1000 fuel card.

As the base model of the local Eclipse Cross range, the ES has a list price of $31,490 plus on-road costs but is listed on carsales at the moment for $34,190 drive-way, with the aforementioned fuel card thrown in, amounting to a saving in excess of $3000 – perfect timing for the rapidly approaching Easter school holidays.

Finally this week, if you need something a bit bigger or more capable, Jeep Australia is offering up to $11,000 of added value on selected 2023 models, all of which can be viewed at the US off-road brand’s new virtual clearance centre via carsales.
