Deal hunter: Mitsubishi Express in retirement run-out
Solid bargains also available for Isuzu MU-X LS-T and Suzuki Baleno GLThe Mitsubishi Express is the newest but also one of the oldest orphans available in the Australian auto market right now.
Based on the third-generation Renault Trafic van first released in 2014, the Express is Mitsubishi’s attempt at taking a slice of the mid-size commercial van market, but slow sales following its 2020 local launch saw the Triple Diamond cull its reskinned LCV from the line-up earlier this year.
This is both a curse and a blessing for Aussie van buyers because it means there’ll soon be one less model to choose from, but the flipside there are some great Express deals available as Mitsubishi offloads its residual stock.
Usually carrying a list price of $39,040 plus on-road costs, ABN holders can snag a 2022 Mitsubishi Express GLX SWB manual for $39,490 drive-away at the moment, saving them thousands in on-road costs.
Even those without an ABN can get in on the bargain action, because the same vehicle is being offered to private buyers for just $40,040 drive-away – just $1000 more than the ordinary list price.
Of course, commercial vans aren’t for everyone; most private car buyers these days want SUVs and the value king of large SUVs at the moment is arguably the 2022 Isuzu MU-X LS-T 4x4 automatic.
With a list price of $67,400 plus on-roads, the top-spec MU-X is still being sold for a very tasty $65,990 drive-away – $1400 less than the list price and inclusive of all on-road costs, marking an overall saving of close to $10,000 in some states.
That’s a particularly solid deal by pretty much anyone’s books given what the LS-T offers in terms of creature comforts, safety and off-road capability.
Suzuki meanwhile is still offering its entry-level 2022 Suzuki Baleno GL manual for $19,990 drive-away to buyers outside of northern New South Wales or Queensland.
Suzuki is bundling all the on-road costs into an easy-to-stomach $1000 premium, which not only saves consumers money but keeps the final bill under a neat $20,000.
