Deal hunter: Mitsubishi Triton 4x2 dual-cab discounted

Plus: On-road costs thrown in for 2021-plated Citroen C5 Aircross and MG3 models

Those who need a new dual-cab ute but don’t require a 4x4 driveline are in for a treat because Mitsubishi is waiving most of the on-road costs associated with its 2022 Mitsubishi Triton GLX-R Double Cab Pick-Up 4x2 automatic.

Usually priced from $41,740 plus on-road costs, the twin-cab Triton GLX-R 4x2 automatic is currently available from $42,740 drive-away, saving buyers plenty of cash that’s usually involved in getting the popular ute on the road, including stamp duty, registration, dealer delivery and third-party insurance.

One of the more generously appointed trim levels within the Triton range, the GLX-R is actually the highest-spec double cab 4x2 variant available in Australia, riding on black 18-inch wheels and featuring keyless entry, climate control, smartphone mirroring, DAB digital radio and much more.

A rear-drive dual-cab isn’t for everyone, though, and if you fancy a European mid-size SUV then Citroen has you covered in the form of the 2021 Citroen C5 Aircross Shine automatic.

Usually retailing for $46,990 plus on-road costs, Citroen is covering all of the on-road costs with this deal, meaning customers can drive away for $46,990.

The timing couldn’t be better for buyers given the 2022 version is jumping up in price by more than $2000, meaning substantial savings are there for the taking if you’re happy to settle for a 2021 compliance plate.

The deal is a common one used by OEMs to offload stock from the previous year, with MG Australia formulating an attractive offer on its 2021 MG3 Excite automatic – just as price increases are headed our way with the MY22 series.

With the 2022 MG3 Excite automatic set to carry an asking price of $21,990 drive-away, buyers can still get themselves into a top-spec, 2021-plated MG3 Excite for $19,990 drive-away before the MY22 version arrives in April.

So this marks a saving of $2000 compared to the inbound examples, and to sweeten the deal further MG Australia is currently offering buyers “a personalised gift from CEO Peter Ciao”.
