Deal hunter: Renault Koleos discounted and with free on-roads

The Renault Koleos is the biggest-selling model in the French brand’s local range, and sales remained buoyant right through 2020.

But during the first two months of 2021 sales have declined, and to kick-start buyer interest Renault is offering a discount worth $800 and free on-road costs for the flagship model, the Renault Koleos Intens 4WD.

This vehicle is normally priced at $45,790 plus on-road costs, but Renault dealers are letting them go for $44,990 on the road. That’s the stamp duty, registration and compulsory third-party insurance all paid by Renault.

Another brand absorbing on-road costs is Mitsubishi. And the price has been reduced by $1750 as well.

The importer’s Mitsubishi Triton GLX+ dual-cab 4x4 usually sells for a manufacturer’s retail list price of $44,490, but buyers can currently pick up one for $42,740 drive-away.

So on top of the discounted price, buyers will also save the on-road costs, including the first year of registration and compulsory third-party insurance.

It’s well known that there’s not a lot of margin in small and light cars, but at a time when many brands are raising the prices of their entries in these market segments, Volkswagen will sell you a Polo with a special finance offer and the importer will also pay some of the on-road costs.

The deal applies to 2020-plated MY21 models of the Volkswagen Polo 70TSI Trendline with dual-clutch (DSG) transmission.

This variant of Polo normally sells for a manufacturer’s retail list price of $21,790, but Volkswagen dealers will put it on the road for $22,990.
