You don’t need to wait until tax time to nab a bargain on a new dual-cab 4x4 ute and one such example is the 2023 Nissan Navara SL automatic, which is currently on special for $49,990 drive-away instead of the usual $49,850 plus on-road costs.
That means Nissan is essentially wiping out all statutory on-road costs, which in states like WA amount to more than $7000. That puts the base Navara 4x4 dual-cab on par with utes like the Isuzu D-MAX SX 1.9 and the upper reaches of the GWM Ute range – both models with less power, torque and a significantly lower towing capacity.
The Navara may now be one of the elder statesmen in the dual-cab ute world, but it continues attracting sales with proven running gear, class-competitive capacities and above-average off-road capability – especially in homegrown Warrior tough-truck form.
The facelifted Kia Picanto, meantime, has only been on the market a couple of months and is already being discounted via a very Kia drive-away promo.
Usually carrying a list price of $21,290 plus on-road costs, the top-spec 2024 Kia Picanto GT-Line automatic can presently be had from $23,490 drive-away – saving buyers roughly $1000 depending on their state or territory or purchase.
If you missed our reveal coverage, Australian versions of the new Picanto misses out on the new fuel-saving transmission tech offered overseas and instead makes do with the previous model’s familiar five-speed manual and four-speed torque-converter automatic choices.
Finally this week, MG Motor Australia has rapidly become the go-to brand for sheer value but now the Chinese brand has outdone itself with the latest promo on the 2024 MG ZST Essence automatic, which sees the usual $34,990 drive-away list price trimmed to $33,990 and then further improved via a $1500 factory bonus.
The end result is a saving of $2500 and a drive-away price of $31,490 for a top-spec compact SUV with a seven-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty.
