TV host and Australian GT racer, Grant Denyer, has joined Simply Sports Cars (SSC) to spearhead the relaunch of Lotus Down Under.
As detailed earlier this week, SSC has taken over the distribution of Lotus cars Down Under.
Denyer has signed on as the Brand Ambassador for Lotus Cars Australia. And will also take on the role of team driver for Lotus Cars Australia's assault to win Targa Tasmania in 2017.
"We are really excited to have Grant sign on," local Lotus boss Lee Knappett stated.
"Grant is a well-known celebrity and an accomplished driver with a passion for motor sport. His love of Targa is well documented, and his decision to choose Lotus as the vehicle on which to base his 2017 Targa assault is extremely pleasing," Knappett added.
Denyer will use the Targa High Country 2016 event in November as a test for both car and team before the start of the 2017 Targa season. In addition to his duties as Team Driver, Denyer will engage in a number of different activities as part of his broader Brand Ambassador role.
"I've always admired Lotus for their purity and performance, I love competing in Targa and have done well in previous events. I am relishing the opportunity to compete in the newly formulated GT2 competition in a truly competitive car," Denyer said.
"My vehicle selection is still a work in progress," Denyer added.
Targa Australia boss, Mark Perry, said the event was delighted.
"It's testament to the strength of Targa Australia that two strong brands in Grant and Lotus have decided to come together to compete in our iconic events. We are excited at the prospect of seeing Grant in a highly competitive car going head-to-head with other marques," Perry said.
