A motor sport outfit in the Great White North is offering Aussie buyers rebuilt muscle cars from the 60s and early 70sThe demand for classic muscle cars and pony cars just will not die. As the supply of good original cars dries up, third party companies are turning their efforts to keeping the oldies on the road -- and they're even reproducing the old designs as brand new cars.
One such company is the Canadian outfit, Sean Hyland Motorsport (SHM). SHM has been in business for some time, but is expanding its sales reach beyond North America and Europe.
The company, located in Canada's Ontario province, offers a range of goods and services for Australian customers, including a reproduction Shelby Cobra, badged the CSX4000. This vehicle is, according to SHM, "the most accurate reproduction of the famous Shelby Cobra Roadster" and can be built for the client with a choice of either a small-block V8 or a large-block engine. The CSX4000 is virtually hand-built on the premises, right down to the leather-trimmed interior.
Aussie customers can also purchase the company's CS8 model (pictured), based on the current Mustang GT and equipped with a range of Shelby accessories.
In addition, the company supplies restoration services and new parts such as aluminium suspension components -- and SHM doesn't limit itself to Blue Oval products alone. As well as GM owners (the company prepared a Chevelle for Optima Batteries), Dodge and Plymouth enthusiasts can have their Challenger or Barracuda rebuilt with CAD suspension systems, four-wheel disc brakes and new HEMI V8 engines displacing 6.1 litres and generating as much as 800HP.
