DETROIT MOTOR SHOW: Lexus RC F cover blown

Prestige brand drops the last of the seven veils ahead of its V8-engined coupe debut
Lexus has finally come clean with its latest sports car offering – the Lexus RC F coupe – publishing new pics of the V8 coupe in all its glory.
Based on the Lexus RC coupe, which debuted during the Tokyo Motor Show in 2013, the RC F coupe comes equipped with a new 5.0-litre V8, producing over 330kW of power – the most powerful V8 Lexus has ever put into a production car.
To put that into perspective, the new BMW M4,  (a direct rival to the Lexus RC F coupe) will see a power figure of 317kW from a twin turbo 3.0-litre six-cylinder. Lexus is obviously aiming high with its new luxury sports coupe.
The RC F coupe features an active rear wing, designed to be raised at speeds in excess of 80km/h, much like the one seen in the exotic Lexus LFA.
Further exterior changes over the Lexus RC coupe sees the RC F sporting a raised bonnet and lower lip which, coupled with the now signature trapezoidal front grille, give the RC F a very aggressive and sporty front end.
The RC F coupe will also boast three variations of wider 19” forged aluminium wheels, allowing for wider tyres and a more menacing stance.
Air ducts in the front fenders and diagonally stacked quad tailpipes, a call back to the Lexus IS F, finish off the exterior mods for the RC F coupe.
The interior gains new bucket seats designed “to resemble tight-fitting athletic sportswear,” according to the Lexus press release. A new steering wheel and a central dial used to switch between four different driving modes will further differentiate the Lexus RC F coupe from the standard RC coupe.
Yukihiko Yaguchi, Lexus RC F chief engineer, says that “the form of each component is carefully designed to contribute to performance” and that the “unique air outlets in the hood and rear section of the front fenders contribute to optimum engine cooling and handling stability.”
The Lexus RC F coupe is set to be officially revealed at the upcoming NAIAS next week, the same show that will see BMW debuting the all new M4.
Should be one heck of a show for lovers of high end luxury sports coupes.
